Hebrew is one of the key components in a successful integration into Israeli society for new Olim, and for a meaningful service in the IDF. Garin Tzabar and IAC OFEK have partnered up to offer you affordable online Hebrew lessons in 3 different levels to get you started on learning Hebrew.

How to sign up? 

1. Fill out this short placement questioner and receive a personalized level recommendation or schedule a free placement call  with OFEK’s educational advisor. 

2. Register to save your place at the level recommended to you. 

3. Pay the course tuition through your Garin Tzabar Profile at https://apply.garin-tzabar.zofim.org.il/profile/ 

4. Once paid, your registration will be confirmed

Beginner

Learn basic conversational skills in Hebrew from the ground up. This level is intended for students with no to very basic Hebrew speaking, reading, and writing skills. The course covers:
  • Speaking and Listening: Basic Hebrew conversations. 
  • Reading: Recognition of words.
  • Reading Comprehension: Vocabulary expansion.
  • Writing: Letter formation and punctuation. 
  • Building Sentences:
    Creating short sentences using pictures. 
  • Verb Tenses: Introduction to the present tense.

Intermediate

Designed for students familiar with letters Aleph-Biet and punctuation in print. Goals include improving communication and handling more complex sentences. The course covers:
  • Speaking: Engage in short conversations and answer basic questions.
  • Writing: Transition from print to script; practice word writing.
  • Reading and Listening: 
    Comprehend simple sentences and spoken words.
  • Grammar: Strengthening letters, constructing sentences, present tense verbs.

Advanced

For students proficient in writing, punctuation, and basic reading. Focus on vocabulary expansion, advanced grammar, and introduction to the future tense. The course includes: 
  • Speaking and Listening: Conduct complex conversations and follow instructions in Hebrew.
  • Reading:  Short stories.
  • Reading Comprehension: 
    Extracting information from texts.
  • Writing: Crafting complete, text-based answers.
  • Grammar: Infinitives, singular/plural, present tense verb declensions.
