Level 1 is intended for non-Hebrew-speakers, who do not know how to read and write in Hebrew. The sessions will be held twice a week for 45-50 minutes and will focus on acquiring and developing the following language skills: reading and reading comprehension, writing, grammar, listening comprehension, and conversation.

During the course, participants will learn:

• To recognize sounds (vowels & consonants)
• To recognize and write the letters of the alphabet in print, nikud, words, and short sentences.
• To read simple words and short sentences.
• To converse in Hebrew using new vocabulary learned in class.

*** Conversation in Hebrew will be presented in transliteration until students acquire the Hebrew alphabet. Participants will be given homework assignments to reinforce material learned in the classroom.
