OFEK: Learn Hebrew, Israeli Spirit, Israeli Innovation, Enrichment, and more

Non- Hebrew Speakers Level 2
High School

For learners ready to take the next step in Hebrew

Prerequisite:
This course is intended for students who are non โ€“Hebrew speakers but can already recognize Hebrew print letters and vowel markings, and who are able to read and write basic words using print letters.

This course continues to build on the foundation of Hebrew reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Sessions are held once a week for 45โ€“50 minutes and are taught in a combination of Hebrew and English to support comprehension while encouraging immersion.

Participants will develop the ability to form basic conversations, improve reading comprehension, and begin writing using cursive Hebrew. They will receive tasks to practice at home to help reinforce what was covered in class.

Students will also explore vocabulary and themes from Israeli culture, with materials including songs, stories, and videos to enrich the learning experience.

The curriculum has been carefully designed and is supported by educational resources from CET (Center for Educational Technology).

In this course, weโ€™ll focus on:

Speaking: Asking and answering basic questions, participating in short conversations
Writing: Learning Hebrew cursive, converting print to script, writing basic words
Reading & Listening: Reading and understanding simple sentences, strengthening listening skills
Grammar: Reinforcing print and script letters, building simple Hebrew sentence structures, and practicing present-tense verb conjugation

For students interested in earning high school credits:
High school students may be eligible to earn credit toward their foreign language requirements and receive a WASC-accredited certificate. Credit and certificate options are available for an additional fee. To learn more about WASC, eligibility, and credit requirements, please visit (link to credit page)
